Dec. 11, 1924 – Aug. 1, 2014 Donald George Reinhart, a retired sales representative and World War II veteran, died Friday in his Williamsville home. He was 89. Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. He enlisted in the Navy in July 1943 and served in the Pacific as a radarman aboard a minesweeper, taking part in the invasion of Okinawa. Mr. Reinhart was a leading salesman for Steinwachs Safety Supply, a safety equipment distributor, and FSG Industries, a manufacturer and distributor of fire and safety equipment. He retired from FSG in 1994. A self-taught craftsman and woodworker, he built furniture, model trains and boats, including a scale replica of the minesweeper he served aboard in the war. Like his father, he enjoyed the outdoors and freshwater fishing, especially at Sharbot Lake, Ont., and Honey Harbor, Ont. In retirement, when he wasn’t fishing, he traveled throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, the former Catherine Urso; a daughter, Mary; three sons, Daniel, Timothy and Joseph; a brother, Kenneth; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 200 St. Gregory Court at Maple Road, Amherst.
