Of Amherst, NY formerly of Bergen,
Norway entered into rest December
23, 2022; Beloved wife of the late
Knud B. Muenter of Copenhagen,
Denmark; devoted mother of Cecilia
(Mark) Cox, Merete Muenter and
Knud (Jessica) Muenter; cherished
grandmother of Eirin and Amanda
Cox; dear sister of Herman Münter
and the late Anna-Sophia Gadeholt.
Eirin studied French at the Sorbonne
University in Paris, held a Bachelor of
Science in Education from Medaille
College, and received a Master of
Science in Education from Buffalo
State University. As a speaker of seven
languages, she served as an excellent
translator of Norwegian, Danish and
Swedish materials for The International
Institute of Buffalo. She was a reading
teacher for the Buffalo School System,
and later worked as an Administrative
Assistant for Crisis
Services. In
her free time, Eirin volunteered for
The Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural
National Historic Site, restoring historic
clothing. She was also a master
knitter and seamstress who won
numerous championship ribbons for
her elaborate Norwegian sweaters at
the Erie County Fair. Eirin was involved
in her community as a member of
The Scandinavian Ladies Club of
Buffalo and The Danish Lutheran
Church in Grimsby, Ontario. Family
and friends may visit THE DIETRICH
FUNERAL HOME, 2480 Kensington
Ave., Amherst, NY on Friday, March
31st, from 6-8 PM where a service
will be held at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made in Eirin’s
memory to The Theodore Roosevelt
Inaugural National Historic Site, 641
Delaware Ave., Buffalo, NY 14202 or
