(nee Brinkman)
February 8, 2013, age 94. Born in
Buffalo in 1918, where she lived all her
life. She was happily married just short
of 70 years to her dear husband Herbert
L. Shattuck, who predeceased her in
2010. They met while she worked as a
receptionist and switchboard operator
at WEBR Radio, where Herb went on
to have a 40 year career there as Technical
Supervisor of the control room.
Grace was an accomplished piano
player who, from the early age, presented
dual piano concerts with her late
sister Beatrice M. Pratt. They were even
invited to perform at the 1933 World’s
Fair in Chicago. Later, accompanied
by her husband, who was an excellent
banjo player, Grace entertained at
hundreds of events at local churches,
variety shows, nursing homes and for
family gatherings over many years. She
was a member of University Methodist
Church for over 60 years and was very
active in the choir there, in addition to
holding many offices on various boards
and women’s societies. Grace was a
homemaker who most enjoyed baking,
sewing, raising her two sons and going
on annual family vacations to the
Adirondacks. Survivors include sons,
Kenneth H. (Josephine) and Robert
R. (Maureen); stepson Ryan (Robyn)
LaCotte; stepgrandchildren, Reece,
Raegan and Ryder LaCotte and
nephew, Robert Pratt. No prior visitation.
A private burial ceremony will be
arranged by the family. Donations may
be made in Grace’s memory to Hospice
Buffalo, Inc. Arrangemts by the
DIETRICH FUNERAL HOME. Online
