January 11, 2022, couldn’t go on
without his Elsie. Passed peacefully
surrounded by family. John leaves to
mourn children Cathy (Len) Smith,
Laurie (Bob) Walsh, John (Candice)
Ambrose; grandchildren Dorene
(Tim) Major, Allison (Chris) Gullion,
Elise Walsh and Jacquelyn Ambrose;
great-grandchildren Maxwell, Miles,
& Lucy; sister Ann Marie Notery,
and other family and friends. He
was predeceased by Elsie (Kress),
his wife of 71 years, and siblings
Anthony, Frances (Portera), Antonette
(Spencer), Rose (Laucello) and Susan
(Gautille). John was proud of his long
career as a bartender, which included
such notable venues as the Hotel
Lafayette, Hotel Stuyvesant, Buffalo
Trap & Field Club, Friar’s Table and
Samuel’s Grand Manor. John was also
proud of his Italian-American heritage
and his service in the US Navy during
WWII. Memorials may be made to the
Per Niente Club Christmas Fund, the
Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo, or
the Veterans One-stop Center of WNY.
In keeping with John’s wishes, there
will be no prior visitation. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held on January
18, starting at 11am, at St. Martha’s
Church, 10 French Rd, Depew. Face
masks and social distancing protocols
