Service: SATURDAY, Jan. 12 – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebratedat 12 Noon at The Newmann Center. HARRIGAN – Lois (nee Hammond) January 6, 2013, in Troy, NY, at the age of 86. She was born in Detroit, MI on February 26, 1926 and graduated from Siena Heights College in 1947. After marrying William Harrigan, they moved to Buffalo, NY where he accepted a faculty position in the history dept. at Canisius College. Following his death in 1968, she taught in the Buffalo Public Schools, continued her graduate studies and raised their five children. In addition, she was an active member of Kappa Gamma Pi, volunteered at local theaters and genealogy organizations, and was involved in the women’s group of the Newman Center. She loved to read and travel; her adventures ranged from taking flying lessons and piloting a small plane over Niagara Falls to riding a camel in Egypt. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lee Graham in Michigan, son Brian Harrigan (Theresa Neilson) in Massachusetts and four daughters, Ann Harrigan Raymont in Indiana, Margaret Harrigan (Richard Ross) in Wisconsin, Sheila Harrigan (Andy Axler) in New York and Alice Harrigan in Massachusetts. She is survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother Harry J. Hammond. Visitation washeld at the DIETRICH FUNERAL HOME, 2480 Kensington Ave., Amherst, on Friday, Jan. 114-7 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at the Newman Center at UB, 495 Skinnersville Rd., Amherst, at 12 noon on Saturday, Jan. 12 Please assemble at the Newman Center. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Catholic Relief
