TheDietrichFuneralHome.com June 7, 1924 – Jan. 8, 2015 Louise A. McPartlan knew her husband’s dream was to open a restaurant. He had been saving up for a car, when a bar went for sale in 1955. “If you don’t try it, you’ll never know,” she told the late James H. McPartlan. And for the next 35 years, they found out with McPartlan’s, later known as McPartlan’s Corner. Mrs. McPartlan, of Amherst, died Thursday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst following a lengthy illness. She was 90. Born in Philadelphia, she moved to the Buffalo area in the 1930s and was a graduate of South Park High School. She was vice president of McPartlan’s Restaurant, which operated at 2434 South Park Ave. from 1955 to 1961. The restaurant moved to 1586 South Park Ave. in 1961, and found its final home on Wehrle Drive in Amherst in 1971. Mrs. McPartlan enjoyed needlework, crocheting and quilting. Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Kuczmanski, Peggy Galuski and Maureen Rivera; five sons, James, Kevin, Joseph, Neal and Robert; a brother, John Frentzel; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 30 Lamarck Drive, Snyder.
