Margaret M. Cook of Getzville, a longtime nurse, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. She was 70.
Born in Buffalo, the former Margaret M. Quinzio graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1962. She earned an associate degree from Erie Community College in 1964, where she was a member of the Delta Rho Sorority.
Mrs. Cook graduated as a registered nurse from the former E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital in 1968, and began working at the hospital.
After the birth of her first son, Collin, she returned to college with her son in tow and earned a bachelor of arts degree in nursing from Niagara University in 1980.
In 1983, she continued in her nursing career at St. Joseph Hospital as an emergency room nurse and later transferred to its stress laboratory. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital in 2004.
From 2011 to 2014, Mrs. Cook worked as a registered nurse at MedTech and CCS Oncology. She retired again in November 2014.
She walked three miles every day for exercise, enjoyed traveling, especially extended vacations to tropical places, and was a lifelong collector of music boxes from around the world.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Ronald H.; two sons, Collin and Garrett; two brothers, Jon and Richard Quinzio; a sister, Maryellen Defilippi; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. next Saturday in Harris Hill Baptist Church, 5071 Harris Hill Road, Clarence.
