PO Box 1311, 14240. Aug. 2, 1922 – Jan. 25, 2015 Marjorie E. Devine, of Kenmore, a retired teacher, died Sunday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a long illness. She was 92. Born in Buffalo, the former Marjorie Crosby attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and was a 1940 graduate of Bennett High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Brockport State Teachers College in 1944 and a master’s degree in education from Canisius College. She taught in Gratwick Elementary School in North Tonawanda from 1943 until she retired in 1963. Active as a volunteer, during World War II, she took part in the Gray Lady service of the American Red Cross and assisted with the USO. She received a certificate of appreciation in recognition of volunteer service from the Veterans Administration. In recent years, she was a volunteer at Loaves and Fishes, a dining room for the needy at Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the Ernest C. Hartwell Society at SUNY Brockport and a member of the Taoist Tai Chi Society. She enjoyed tennis, golf, bowling, swimming and visiting Letchworth State Park. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Thomas R.; three sons, Gregory T., Matthew P. and Johnathan C.; and a granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the St. John Neumann Shrine at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda.
