FUNERAL HOME, INC. Aug. 22, 1936 – Nov. 13, 2015 Mary Ann Stelley, a retired state employee and an active volunteer, died unexpectedly Friday in her University District home. She was 79. Born in Buffalo, the former Mary Ann Sheffield attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and was a graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy. Mrs. Stelley joined the state Department of Labor as a transcriber in 1979. She retired in 2002. She was a parishioner at St. Joseph University Catholic Church for 55 years and was a Eucharistic minister. She had been a literacy volunteer for 20 years and a volunteer at Buffalo Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 10 years. She also was a 40-gallon American Red Cross blood donor. She was a Buffalo Bills Booster. She traveled extensively, visiting Europe eight times, taking more than 20 cruises and visiting every state except Idaho and Montana. Survivors include two daughters, Clare P. Rajewski and Rosemary E. Kopcho; two sons, Robert W. III and Daniel J.; a brother, Ralph Sheffield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 263 Claremont Ave., Town of Tonawanda.
