Kryszak of Clarence, who owned and operated several businesses, died Thursday in Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clarence, after a short illness. She was 84. Born in Buffalo, the former Ruth Feldman was a graduate of Immaculata Academy in Hamburg. With her husband of 35 years, Pasquale “Pat” Massaro, she was co-owner of Massaro Cleaners in Clarence Hollow from 1961 to 1987, when the business was acquired by her daughter, Rose, and a partner, Gary Shelton. Mr. and Mrs. Massaro also were partners in a pizza restaurant, Warp I, on Main Street in Clarence with Walter and Audrey Schutt. She also operated a car wash business on Main Street in Clarence, was a realtor with Century 21 Hourglass in Clarence and collected and sold antiques privately under the banner of Canterbury Collectibles. A professional cake baker, she specialized in wedding cakes. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the Business and Professional Women’s Association and the Red Hat Society. She was a volunteer at the Erie County Home and Infirmary and recently provided classes for children at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, teaching them how to bake and decorate gingerbread houses. A longtime euchre player, she frequently took part in activities at the Clarence Senior Center. After her first husband died in 1987, she married Otto Scharf Jr., who died in 2000, and Daniel Kryszak, who died in 2008. Survivors include a son, Alec Massaro; and two daughters, Rose Massaro and Catherine Fisher; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held April 30 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4275 Harris Hill Road, Clarence.
