July 15, 1920 – Nov. 3, 2014 Sidney G. Robinson, retired unit chief of the Federal Aviation Administration’s navigations and communications unit at the Buffalo International Airport, died Monday after a long illness. He was 94. Born in Hamburg, he was a 33-year-employee of the FAA when he retired in 1976. He then worked for the Buffalo Council of Senior Citizens for 13 years. He served a president of the Airways Engineering Society in the 1950s. A 1939 graduate of Nichols High School in Buffalo, he earned an electrical engineering degree at Erie Community College. He was a deacon, elder and trustee of the Cleveland Drive Presbyterian Church. He and his wife of 68 years, the former Jean Mueller, served as hospitality ambassadors as volunteers at the Buffalo Airport until 2009. After living in Amherst for 55 years they moved to Williamsville in 2010. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II, serving in the military from 1942 through 1946. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hillegas and Kathleen Skinner; a son, James; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
