at www.TheDietrichFuneralHome.com June 9, 1921 – Jan. 22, 2015 Steven Sielski, a retired pharmacist and sales manager for Eli Lilly and Co., died Thursday at his home in Amherst. He was 93. Born in Buffalo, he was a 1940 graduate of East High School. He served in the Army Medical Corps from 1943 to 1944. After his discharge, Mr. Sielski earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Purdue University in 1947. He also was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. As a pharmaceutical representative, Mr. Sielski served drug stores, hospitals and physicians in private practice in the Buffalo Niagara region for 38 years before he retired in 1987. In the 1980s, he received the top salesman award from Eli Lilly. For over six decades, he was a member of the Professional & Businessmen’s Association, which presented him with its Man of the Year award in 2011. A lifelong supporter of the musical arts, he organized the Williamsville Music Boosters and raised funds to obtain marching band uniforms for Williamsville South High School. He belonged to the Western New York Friends of the Canadian Opera Co., and also was a member of several local choirs, including the Chopin Singing Society, Villa Maria Chorale and Quo Vadis, with which he toured in Europe and South America. During the 1960s, Mr. Sielski was a director and treasurer of the Polish Union of America, a fraternal organization. He was a member of the Polish Arts Club and Father Justin Council 5670, Knights of Columbus in Cheektowaga. He also was a member of several veterans organizations, including Adam Plewacki American Legion Post. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Doris Link; four sons, Stanley, Raymond, Benjamin and Paul; two daughters, Martha S. Taj and Lucy S. Miller; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 199 Clark St.
