Stuart “Stu” A. Boeckel

Beloved son of the late Paul & Elizabeth (Bette) Boeckel. Brother of Read (Cheryl), Peter, & Holly (Stephen) Allen. Loving Uncle of Heidi (Brent) Maier, Sarah (Hilary) Boeckel, Mark (Leslie) Boeckel, PJ (Jessica) Boeckel, Read (Katie) Allen & John (Mary Kate) Allen. Adored great uncle of Jack, Cole, & Griffin Maier; Bryan, Jake, Kate, Evelyn, & Helen Boeckel; Elizabeth, Jack, Wells, Henry, & Charlie Allen. Stuart passed away after a short illness on Saturday June 29, 2024, one month shy of his 70^th birthday. To know Stu was to love Stu. He was a gentle giant at 6’4” with a heart of gold. He was diagnosed as a young child with Homocystinuria, but he never let his disability prevent him from living a full life. He graduated from the Campus School at the age of 21 and immediately transitioned to the Blind Association of WNY, later known as the Olmsted Center for Sight, where he worked for over 40 years. He was named employee of the year in 1994, recognizing him for his hard work & strong work ethic. Stuart spent over 40 summers at Sugarloaf Farm, Port Colborne where he captained the Stu Rats baseball team. Stu was a lifelong Buffalo Bisons fan, a season ticket holder, and a big part of the ballpark community. In addition to the Bisons, Stuart was a lifelong and passionate fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits, Duke Basketball, & Notre Dame football. He was loyal to his teams to the very end. Stuart’s legacy of kindness, positive spirit, sense of humor, & hard work will live on in those who knew him & loved him. A service for Stuart will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Stuart’s memory to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Ave., Buffalo, NY.
