Cheryl Lombardo-McGregor
Cheryl Susan Lombardo-McGregor
February 1st, 1965 – June 2nd, 2017
It has been 8 years since her passing. Of Buffalo, NY. Cheryl was 52 years old and passed away at Millard Suburban Hospital surrounded by family, doctors and nurses that she had served with at Millard Gates Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Charles McGregor Sr. who passed in April of 2020. Cherished mother of Michael Jerome McGregor and Charles McGregor Jr. (Kayla McSorley). Loving daughter of the late Michael Lombardo and daughter of Jean (nee Mahoney) Lombardo. Devoted niece of Diane and Norman Tomas. Loving Godmother of Ashley Schilling (Barry Goldenberg). Loving daughter-in-law of Ronald and the late Catherine (nee Pecoraro) McGregor. Sister of Cindy (Robert) Schilling. Also survived by many doting nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Cheryl had a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on June 10, 2017, at Holy Angels Church on Porter Avenue, Buffalo, NY where her and her husband were married. The church has now sadly closed. The funeral arrangements were entrusted to her cousins Joseph P. Lombardo and Anthony Lombardo. She was buried on top of her father at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on June 2nd, 2022.
She grew up above the Lombardo Funeral Home on 102 Linwood Ave. in Buffalo, NY. Her beloved father passed when she was only 8 years old. She leaned upon the support of her Mahoney grandparents, aunt and uncle in Toronto, CA and her Lombardo Family throughout her childhood. She attended Bishop McMahon high school and afterwards pursued nursing school and became a registered nurse. She made many lifelong friends with her co-workers and was a gifted caretaker to all her patients. She worked as a nurse in the ICU at Millard Gates for over 20 years until a blood clot made her disabled. Cheryl was stylish and particular about her outward appearance. But how she treated people was more important to her. On the phone for hours with friends and family, checking in and giving support wherever was needed no matter what the cost or how sick she was. She met her husband Charlie McGregor in her teens in the West Side of Buffalo and after many proposals from him they fell in love, were married and together until death parted them. They laughed, cooked, lived, argued and loved like no other.
Charlie passed in 2020. Michael Jerome McGregor, who Cheryl protected, uplifted and created opportunities for when others said it was impossible, or time not well spent. Towards the end the roles reversed and it was Michael Jerome that became her caregiver and a damn great one at that. Michael Jerome lives with autism and has a full-time job, takes care of his home and lives a life of respect and dignity. She gave her son Charles a foundation that has led to a life of love and happiness. A mother’s love transcends time and space. Cheryl gave her family the strength to take on any obstacle put before them. She is blessed and without pain. May perpetual light shine upon her always.
