AMHERST, NY — Kathryn (Doll) McLeron, 87, of Amherst, passed away on June 23, 2026.Born and raised in Buffalo on December 2, 1938, Kathryn obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Rosary Hill College. Kay worked for Merckens Chocolate Company, until leaving to raise her children in Amherst with her beloved husband, the late Richard D. McLeron.
A devoted Catholic, Kathryn was an active member of the Faith, Family, and Food Prayer Group (3FPG.) Kay was an avid reader and enjoyed travel.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Kathleen McLeron (Teresa); her son, Timothy McLeron (Pamela); her grandchildren, Olivia and William; and her step-grandchild, Rowan Narvaez. In addition to her parents Dersey and Frances Doll and her husband, Richard, she was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Levett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Christ the King Church, 30 Lamarck Drive, Amherst, NY 14226.
I met Kay through “3FPG” about 20 years ago. She became one of my most cherished friends. She was so loving and genuine. I will miss our talks and her wonderful advice. Love you Kay, I will miss you. I only aspire to have the faith that you had. My prayers are with you, Kathy and Teresa and Tim and the rest of your family.
I have such fond and vivid memories of Mrs. (and Mr.) McLeron over many years growing up just a few doors down on Darwin Drive. Timmy and Kathy were our playmates – life was uncomplicated and fun.
Mrs. McLeron (Kay) was always robust, smiling, and enthusiastic about life. I can just hear her vivacious laugh and voice, always filled with such gusto and purpose.
It saddens me that one of the last great contributors to life on Darwin has passed on. I am sure she is at peace, especially in light of her devotion to her faith.
I so regret that I am out of town but will pause and reflect at the time of the Mass. My condolences to Timmy and Kathy, and the entire family. Sarah
