Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Church, 1317 Eggert Rd., Amherst, NY 14226. GORMAN – Michael J. October 10, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Natalie (nee Kilian) Gorman; loving father of Lisa (Ernest) Dusza Jr.; dear grandfather of Jonathan, Katherine, and Christopher Dusza; brother of the late Thomas (Viridiann), Mary (James) Gould, and Robert Gorman; also survived by many nieces and nephews. No prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Church, 1317 Eggert Rd., Amherst 14226. Please assemble at church. Gorman, of Snyder, a retired college professor, died Oct. 10 in Buffalo General Medical Center after a short illness. He was 86. Born in Omaha, Neb., he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Creighton University. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, was stationed in Germany with the 9th Ordnance Battalion and attained the rank of private first class. He then taught English at Plattsburgh High School and earned his doctorate in German language at the University at Buffalo. Mr. Gorman taught German at SUNY Geneseo from 1967 to 1970 and at Erie Community College from 1970 to 1980. He served as director of library science at ECC from 1981 until his retirement in 1991. A pianist and organist, he served as organist for Infant of Prague Catholic Church, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Brothers of Mercy Adult Home while he was a resident. His wife of 33 years, the former Natalie Kilian, died in 2002. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Dusza, and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 1317 Eggert Road at Main Street, Eggertsville.
