Roger J. Wittig, 91, of Amherst, died Feb. 17, 2024. Born on Oct. 25, 1932, to Norman and Johanna Wittig, Mr. Wittig was a devout Catholic throughout his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a graduate of St. Bonaventure and the University of Buffalo Law School. He had a long career in the Erie County Attorney’s Office. In his retired years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and genealogy research. He was the husband of Anne (nee Gustina) Wittig for 60 years; father of Dr. Geoffrey (Rita) Wittig, Andrea (Stephen) Rowe and Christopher (Patricia) Wittig; grandfather of nine grandchildren; and great-grandfather of seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Christ the King Church, Amherst. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities of Buffalo. Arrangements by The Dietrich Funeral Home.
