Passed peacefully on February 17, 2024. Roger was born on October 25, 1932, to the late Norman and Johanna Wittig and was the beloved husband of Anne G. Wittig (nee Gustina) for 60 years. Loving father of Dr. Geoffrey (Rita) Wittig, Andrea (Stephen) Rowe and Christopher (Patricia) Wittig. Dear grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Roger was a devout Catholic throughout his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of St. Bonaventure and the University of Buffalo Law School. Roger had a long career in the County Attorney’s Office. In his retired years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and genealogy research. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on February 27th, 2024 at 9:30am at Christ the King Church, 30 Lamarck Dr., Amherst, NY. Please assemble at church. Roger J. Wittig, 91, of Amherst, died Feb. 17, 2024. Born on Oct. 25, 1932, to Norman and Johanna Wittig, Mr. Wittig was a devout Catholic throughout his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a graduate of St. Bonaventure and the University of Buffalo Law School. He had a long career in the Erie County Attorney’s Office. In his retired years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and genealogy research. He was the husband of Anne (nee Gustina) Wittig for 60 years; father of Dr. Geoffrey (Rita) Wittig, Andrea (Stephen) Rowe and Christopher (Patricia) Wittig; grandfather of nine grandchildren; and great-grandfather of seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Christ the King Church, Amherst. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities of Buffalo. Arrangements by The Dietrich Funeral Home.
